The main purpose of this paper is to analyse the possibility of using crowdfunding as a source of capital in family businesses. Based on the previous research about capital structure and the financing choices in family firms, the author identifies the core determinants of such decisions and compares them to the basic characters of crowdfunding models. Thus, she assesses the advantages and disadvantages of crowdfunding versus other sources of capital. The main feature is that crowdfunding, fulfils very well the core needs of family businesses and using their basic characters minimizes the weaknesses of social funding as an independent form model.
