Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja najważniejszych czynników, które przyczyniły się do powstania i ewolucji rynku ETF-ów, oraz ustalenie ich znaczenia dla jego dalszego rozwoju. (fragment tekstu)

The ETFs were introduced on the financial market in the last decade of the 20th century as safe financial instruments. The first of them were intended primarily for the institutional investors. Due to their advantages (the optimal costs, liquidity, transparency, and many others) they were immediately accepted by the investors on the financial markets and have become very popular. An analysis of existing development and market characteristics of these instruments make further development inevitable. Among the most important factors for this development should be listed: all the increased interest in ETF-s by different groups of actors on financial market (a diverse group of investors, (manager providers - sponsors, index providers, market makers, raiting agencies, stock exchanges, etc.) as well as the development of new ETF strategies and instruments of a similar nature (ETP - Exchange-Traded Products: ETN Exchange-Traded Notes, ETC - Exchange-Traded Commodities, etc.).
