Current innovation development of Russia: the main trends and indicators Raw orientation of the Russian export is currently presenting a serious threat to the economic security of the country. All levels of state authority are engaged in development and adoption of specific measures for implementation of the tasks stipulated in the Concept for long-term social and economic development of the Russian Federation till 2020 (hereinafter referred to as "Concept 2020"), the transition to the innovation path of development and formation of an efficient national innovation system. However, before we approach analysis of the state innovation policy, it seems necessary to determine the current level of science and innovation development in Russia on the basis of an international comparison of key indicators. In order to evaluate the innovation development of Russia, we will use the methodology employed by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This methodology considers the following key indicators of the innovation activity: domestic expenditure on research and development; the amount of researchers; results of the scientific research activity; business innovation activity.
