From the beginning of the 80'ies the linkages between financial markets have dramatically increased. Liberalisation, deregulation and the rapid development of new technologies have determined the growth of these linkages to a large extent. Globalisation has changed many aspects of how financial market participants operate, it also creates both opportunities and challenges for them. In this paper author focused on benefits and threats of the globalisation process of financial markets. In author's opinion it is necessary to limit negative consequences and costs of globalisation in order to reach possible gains from this process. It is important to follow the process of globalisation and to promote appropriate solutions adjusted to changing environment. Enormous responsibility in this area is attributed to financial regulators who create the rules of financial market functionning. (original abstract)
