In gathering information for our article, we encountered different opinions on the superiority of one particular model of corporate governance over others. Just a few years ago, it was believed that the traditional German system had marked advantages over the Anglo-American system (Charkham 1994). On the other hand the report "Corporate Governance 1998. An International Comparison" ranked UK as number one. The volatility of opinions over time and the profound changes through which the systems are currently going have convinced us that neither model can be regarded as leading. For this reason, we have tried to identify the best elements of each model and create a set of characteristics of our "future model". (fragment of original text)
