Abstrakty

Teoretycznie rozwój systemu finansowego może determinować wzrost gospodarczy, może jedynie pozostawać pod jego wpływem, obie te zmienne mogą być wzajemnie zależne albo w ogóle niezwiązane zależnością przyczynowo-skutkową. W niniejszym artykule położono nacisk na pierwsze z wymienionych podejść, tzw. podaży usług finansowych (supply-leading view). Wskazano podstawowe kanały oddziaływania systemu finansowego na wzrost gospodarczy oraz dokonano przeglądu badań empirycznych dotyczących wpływu systemu finansowego na wzrost gospodarczy. The relation between financial system development and economic growth has been the subject of numerous theoretical as well as empirical analyses. Based on the literature used in the article, it could be concluded that financial development generally positively influences economic growth and the strength of this relation depends on the level of financial system development in the country. Capital accumulation and technological innovations are the main theoretical channels of this impact and the empirical analyses give the support to the first of them. Financial system determines these growth factors by performing its functions, which depends on the factors specific to the country such as institutions and financial system legal regulations.
