Abstrakty

Artykuł analizuje nauki i przemyślenia kanadyjskiego filozofa, Charlesa Taylora, na temat tożsamości. Zaprezentowano definicje terminu "tożsamość" i rozważania na temat zmiany jego znaczenia na przestrzeni wieków. Poruszona została kwestia tożsamości w kontekście wielokulturowości. Pokrótce przedstawiono także sylwetkę myśliciela.

According to the Canadian philosopher, Charles Taylor, the modern epoch put men in front of a difficult task: depriving them of the hitherto framework which constitutes their identity, it demanded from him a constant search. The subject has had since that moment not a "given" but an "assigned" identity. According to Taylor, identity is a result of peculiar negotiations with the world, in which man is set. On the other hand, reality requires from man an authentic engagement, asubjective, lively relations, which are at the same time a way of affirmation of one's own "l". Especially at the moment of turning point since in the pluralised world with the horizons which are both overlapping and become blurred, the category of identity requires a constant vigilance and incessant disambiguation.
