Artykuł zwraca uwagę na najważniejsze kwestie związane z niezbędnymi zmianami, które powinny zostać wdrożone przez Międzynarodowy Fundusz Walutowy. Zmiany te mogą zwiększyć znacząco potencjał operacyjny i elastyczność MFW wobec współczesnych zagrożeń.
The rapidly evolving global economy as well as new challenges with economic and social implications make the problem of effective functioning of international organizations extremely vital. Especially the nature of current financial crises and possible speedy transmission of crises between particular countries and regions underline the needs of appropriate model of „global governance". In this context the International Monetary Fund (IMF) seems to be a very important institution, which may potentially play the crucial role in the stabilization process of particular countries as well as the whole global economy. However, numerous controversies are still connected with the previous performance of the IMF. Therefore the basic aim of the this study is to indicate main areas of the IMF's functioning which should be reformed and substantially changed to improve its effectiveness.(original abstract)
