Nowadays one of the most important aspects of IT management concerns the problem of how to reconcile business innovation with IT infrastructure effectiveness. Using a traditional approach to IS/IT development, maintenance and management, the two points of view seem contradictory. However, if an enterprise architecture (EA) framework in line with service-oriented computing concepts is used, it is possible to find a joint solution that could satisfy both the needs of business and the need to support the IT organization. This paper presents an outline of an EA framework and some application issues of that concept from the point of view of business. (original abstract)
