Abstrakty

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie procesu poszerzenia ASEAN (Association of South East Asia Nations) - problemów, oczekiwań starych i nowych członków oraz inicjatyw, których zadaniem jest integracja regionu. Nowe państwa, w tytule nazwane ASEAN-4, przez członków stowarzyszenia zwane w skrócie, od pierwszych liter ich nazw CLMV (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam), różnią się znacznie od „starej" szóstki. W artykule wskazane są najważniejsze różnice między starymi i nowymi członkami ASEAN. W gronie ASEAN-4, ze względu na dynamikę zmian oraz potencjał gospodarczy i ludnościowy, wyróżniony został Wietnam. Wniosek, który można wysnuć z przeprowadzonej analizy, sprowadza się do podkreślenia determinacji państw regionu Azji Południowo-Wschodniej w sprawie stworzenia ściślejszej struktury organizacyjnej: AFTA (ASEAN Free Trade Agreements) czy nawet wspólnoty ekonomicznej ASEAN do 2020 r., mimo problemów na drodze do integracji. The aim of this article is to present the process of the ASEAN enlargement, especially the problems related with it, expectations of new and old members, and initiatives concerning the regional integration. The new states, in the title called ASEAN-4, by the Association's members referred to as CLMV, an abbreviation formed from the first letters of their names, differ a lot from the old six ones. The main differences between the new and old ASEAN members are described in the article. Vietnam was distinguished among ASEAN-4 regarding its dynamics of changes, as well as its economic and demographic potential. The conclusion, that can be inferred from the conducted analysis, is that the South East Asia countries are determined to create a stronger organizational structure: AFTA, or even Economic Community of ASEAN until 2020, in spite of the problems on the way to their integration.(original abstract)
