Abstrakty

Omówiono czynniki warunkujące rozwój regionów (na przykładzie województwa śląskiego), takie jak: infrastruktura liniowa transportu drogowego, sieć transportu kolejowego, infrastruktura techniczna transportu tramwajowego i trolejbusowego oraz przewozy pasażerów i ładunków w kontekście integracji przestrzennej regionów.

Economical development of regions and their co-operation with surroundings are in large extend determined by efficient transport functioning. These processes in the further consequence depend on state of the linear and point placement of the transport infrastructure. These dependences are also visible in the Silesian Province which area amounts 12 294 km², and population amounts 4,86 million people. Position of that province in the country, its participation in the integration processes are special, owing to the big concentration of people, economic potential and the border location with the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The linear infrastructure of transport in the region is created by 19 783 km of public roads of hard surface which comprises 1061 km of national main roads and 1432 km provincial roads, 2054 km of railways and 664,3 km of tram ways. The region situation on the international routes increases its position which is visible especially in the amounts of the passenger transport - about 930 mln people (tab. 5) and cargo (goods) about 490 mln tonnes (tab. 6 and 7). Location of the Silesian Province at the border with the Czech Republic and Slovakia creates special demands and requirements in the international connections in relation to the infrastructure placement which is executed by the border checkpoints in Zwardoń, Korbielow (Slovakia), Cieszyn, Chałupki, Zebrzydowice and others (the Czech Republic). However, the further development of the integration of the interregional and outside processes depends on the modernisation and extension of the infrastructure, specially within the urban agglomeration, their rational relation to the country layout of all means of transport.
