"Zasadami prawa nazywamy takie normy prawne, które w danym systemie prawa posiadają fundamentalny charakter". W artykule ukazano zasady prawa występujące w regulacjach procesu cywilnego, administracyjnego i karnego w kontekście poszczególnych stadiów postępowania.

The essay describes basic principles of Polish procedural law in the light of different stages of civil, penal and administrative procedures. Principles of law are the specific norms having fundamental importance in defined legal system. Principles of law have significant position because they express axiology of the legal system or its parts. Comparing civil, penal and administrative procedures, it is possible to distinguish three groups of principles: principles used in each procedure, principles used only in court procedures, procedures used only in civil, penal or administrative procedure. Principle of democratic state of law, principle of legality, right of access to a court, principle of material truth, principle of objectivity and principle of two instances proceeding belong to the first group. Principle of judges, independence, principle of objectivity, principle of free evaluation of proofs, principle of contradictory, principle of equal treatment of the parties, and principle of publicness belong to the second group. Presumption of innocence and principle in dubio pro re belong to penal procedure principles, but in civil procedure we may find principle of dispositivity. Principle of convincing, principle of fast and simple proceeding, principle of automatic taking into account public interest and just interests of individuals and principle of informing the parties and other participants of the proceeding constitute characteristics of administrative procedure.
