Strategia realizacji celu inflacyjnego (inflation targeting), z powodzeniem stosowana w kilku krajach uprzemysłowionych staje się atrakcyjną alternatywą dla rosnącej liczby krajów transformacji gospodarczej takich jak: Chile, Brazylia, Republika Czeska, Polska, Afryka Południowa. Artykuł przedstawia założenia strategii realizacji celu inflacyjnego w wymienionych krajach, jak również korzyści i niedogodności związane z wprowadzaniem takiej polityki pieniężnej.

Inflation targeting, a monetary policy strategy which has been successfully used by a number of industrialized countries, has become an increasingly attractive alternative and has been adopted by a growing number of emerging-market countries, including Chile, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Poland and South Africa. In this paper, what inflation targeting involves for these countries is outlined and the advantages and disadvantages of this monetary-policy strategy are discussed. The bottom line is that, although inflation targeting is not a panacea and may not be appropriate for many emerging-market countries, it can be a highly useful monetary policy in a number of them.
