Complex, Dynamic Adaptation Systems as a Research Perspective of the Evolution of the Contemporary Economy

Temat artykułu dotyczył ewolucji przedsiębiorstw i struktur organizacyjnych w okresie transformacji. Autor zaproponował spojrzenie na przedsiębiorstwo i gospodarkę przez pryzmat teorii złożonych, dynamicznych systemów adaptacyjnych. Zdaniem autora, takie podejście stwarza możliwość pokazania: schematów myślowych, pozwalających na ustalenie pozycji firmy w gospodarce rynkowej; kierunków zmian przedsiębiorstw w ramach gospodarki rynkowej; ewolucji przedsiębiorstw, a także zmian rewolucyjnych takich jak restrukturyzacja, a następnie przejście na system organizacji procesowej (BPR).
The problem of coordination and self-organization of actions in the micro-economic sphere in the conditions of an information society requires a new illumination. A critique of the conception of equilibrium inadequate for the contemporary dynamic economy was carried out, proposing in the character of a research directive the theory of complex dynamic adaptation systems. Using the CDAS theory the dynamics and its accelerations were shown on the example of market development. For this purpose two cumulatively acting feedbacks were used: specialization of work and information and a reduction of transaction costs caused by information techniques. The character of the information structure of the country and the information surplus achieved in the conditions of a market economy decides about the growing adaptation capacities in the scale of the economy. Adaptations on the enterprise level were shown in two dimensions: self-organization and strategic orientation. The concept of self-organization was made precise establishing a continuum between bureaucratic coordination and chaos and argumenting for a position of directed self-organization. The recognition of unbalance as a natural state of the economy entails effects in the sphere of strategic actions of the firms: the place of competitive-market orientation is taken by resource orientation, expressing higher adaptation abilities.
