Thesis/Objective – The appropriate quality of information resources in digital libraries is a new challenge in further intensive development of those virtual organizations. The paper is focused on the identification of the role and significance of information quality in the most important digital library evaluation models. Research methods – The comparative analysis of selected models of digital libraries was used. Three aspects were studied: the place of information quality evaluation within the model, the scope of this evaluation, evaluation methods and tools applied. Results/Conclusions – The authors evaluated both data and metadata in selected models. The analysis showed that the models under scrutiny considerably vary with regard to the information quality evaluation methods and the number of evaluation criteria applied, although the ratio of the latter to the overall number of criteria used is comparable in selected models. Most models do not offer methods and tools to implement the criteria of information quality evaluation, which means that further work is required to define and implement rules for information quality enhancement in digital libraries.

Teza/cel artykułu – Zapewnienie odpowiedniej jakości zasobów informacji w bibliotekach cyfrowych stanowi nowe wyzwanie dla dalszego intensywnego rozwoju tego rodzaju wirtualnych organizacji. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie miejsca i znaczenia oceny jakości informacji w najważniejszych modelach ewaluacji bibliotek cyfrowych. Metody – Jako metodę badawczą zastosowano analizę porównawczą wybranych modeli bibliotek cyfrowych pod względem sposobu ujęcia oceny jakości informacji w strukturze modelu, zakresu tej oceny oraz proponowanych metod i technik oceny. Wyniki/ wnioski – W badanych modelach przedmiotem oceny były zarówno dane, jak i metadane. Przeprowadzona analiza wykazała także, że rozważane modele ewaluacji bibliotek cyfrowych dość znacznie różnią się sposobem ujęcia oceny jakości informacji oraz uwzględnianą liczbą kryteriów tej oceny. Jednak ich udział w stosunku do ogółu kryteriów przyjętych w danym modelu kształtuje się na zbliżonym poziomie. W większości modeli nie zaproponowano metod i technik wdrażania przyjętych kryteriów oceny jakości informacji. Pokazuje to, że niezbędne są dalsze wysiłki zmierzające do opraco¬wania i wdrożenia praktycznych zasad doskonalenia jakości informacji w bibliotekach cyfrowych.
