W artykule omówiono konsekwencje zdarzeń traumatycznych w postaci zespołu stresu pourazowego (PTSD) oraz wtórnego zespołu stresu pourazowego (STSD) u strażaków i ratowników medycznych. Omówiono częstość występowania zaburzenia PTSD i STSD oraz jego kryteria diagnostyczne. Dokonano przeglądu badań nad rozpowszechnieniem STSD w wybranych grupach zawodowych. Przedstawiono istotę debriefingu jako metody zapobiegania STSD w służbach ratowniczych. Wskazano także na potrzebę prowadzenia dalszych badań w tym zakresie.

The consequences of traumatic events in the form of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as well as secondary traumatic stress disorder (STSD) among firemen and EMS workers were discussed in the article. The frequency of PTSD and STSD symptoms as well as the diagnostic criteria were considered. The review of research on the spread of STSD within chosen professional groups was performed. The essence of debriefing as the method of STSD prevention among emergency medical services was presented. The need of carrying out further research within this scope was indicated.
