Abstrakty
Witold Szczuczko was a representative of Toruń’s school of history, the last apprentice of the outstanding medievalist Professor Karol Górski (1903–1988). His master thesis (1973) was devoted to the policy of Sigismund the Old towards the Hansa. He received a PhD degree in 1985 for his thesis about the Sejm of Warsaw of 1563–4 and its attitude towards the Executionist movement. His unfinished postdoctoral work concerned the recesses of the Royal Prussian Estates with special emphasis given to the diplomatic and source-scientific analysis. Karol Górski and Witold Szczuczko issued the monument edition of wax tablets of the city of Toruń (1980), which gave rise to a heated academic debate in the 1980s. He was an expert in the history of Scandinavian countries and biographer. He was employed in the Laboratory of Monument Conservation, in the Institute of History and Archival Science of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, and in the State Archive in Toruń. Witold Szczuczko’s bibliography prepared by Monika Wyszomirska is attached to the article.
