CONTEMPORARY NAMES OF FIRMS IN THE VILLAGES OF PODKARPACKIE VOIVODESHIP The subject of the article is a category of onyms that is new, progressive, and culturally foreign to the rural environment, in the form of official names of 306 private firms in business in the three easternmost powiaty of Podkarpackie voivodeship. Synchronic analysis of the naming material connected made possible the determination that in regard to structure, constructions combining the firm name, most often in agglutinative form, with a full or reduced descriptive part, predominate. On the other hand, one must recognize that the most important characteristic of rural firm names in the territory discussed was their semantic characterization.
