Recenzja napisanej przez Seweryna Kuśmierczyka monografii "Księga filmów Andrieja Tarkowskiego" (2012) podsumowującej całą filmową twórczość tego reżysera. Kuśmierczyk ukazał proces twórczy artysty od narodzin pomysłu na film (pojawienia się pierwszego zapisu w dziennikach i listach Tarkowskiego), przez tworzenie scenariusza, pracę na planie filmowym, po montaż. Materiały archiwalne i źródłowe są przywoływane i cytowane w bardzo obszernej narracji przypisów. Praca Kuśmierczyka zachęca do wniknięcia w duchowy świat filmów Tarkowskiego, który ukazują zebrane w książce analizy filmowe i interpretacje autora. Lektura "Księgi filmów..." uświadamia czytelnikom, w jak dużym stopniu życie i twórczość Tarkowskiego są ze sobą powiązane i ile tracimy, oglądając dzieła tego reżysera bez znajomości jego historii.
A review of Seweryn Kuśmierczyk’s monograph 'Księga filmów Andrieja Tarkowskiego' ('The Book of Films by Andrei Tarkovsky', 2012) that summarises the entire film work of the Russian director. Kuśmierczyk presents the creative process of the artist from the point the idea for a film is born (i.e. when a first note is made on the topic in Tarkowsky’s diary or correspondence), through the period of preparing the screenplay, work on the film set and montage. Archival materials and sources are cited and quoted in extensive footnotes. Kuśmierczyk’s work encourages the reader to enter the spiritual world of Tarkowsky’s film. The spiritual world is revealed by the analyses of films and author’s interpretations present in the book. Reading 'The Book of Films...' makes the readers realise that Tarkowsky’s creative work and life were tightly bound together, and that we lose a lot, if we watch his films, without knowing his life.
