The article deals with the piano pieces of music of Ukrainian composers of the late 19th – early 21st centuries, which are to be included to the piano students’ repertoire within the Instrumental Performance curriculum course in higher educational establishments. Piano cycles, albums, collections and individual pieces by Ukrainian composers are systematized on the various levels of instrumental training of students – future teachers of musical art. Intonation, modes, beats, rhythm, texture and other features of the piano works by national authors of traditional and avant-garde trends are analysed. Main methods, used while working with plays in the process of performing interpretation, are illuminated. Piano students of all performing (instrumental) levels are provided with a large number of piano pieces based on Ukrainian folk songs and focused on national folk themes. This trend is represented by the names of M. Lysenko, L. Revutskyi, B. Liatoshinskiy, M. Kolessa, I. Berkovich, A. Kolomiiets, V. Kosenko, I. Shamo, B. Filts, V. Demianishin, O. Kravtsiv, L. Dychko, H. Sasko. It is proved that a definite place in the heritage of these composers have been taken by the theme of history of Ukrainian people, their life, customs and ceremonies; song and dance-like genres of folk origin – kolomyika and vesnianka – are widely used, too. Ukrainian romanticism in piano art of the late 19th – early 21st centuries is represented by many genres of European origin. Preludes by L. Revutskiy, mazurkas, waltzes, elegies, impromptus by M. Lysenko, nocturnes by H. Martinenko and works of other composers occupy a significant place in the repertoire of students with various levels of performing skills. There is an accent made on several jazz compositions, such as: “Music Week” by О. Nezhigay, cycle “Jazz Fiesta” by L.Yurina (beginner), piano suite “I Play Jazz” by H. Saskо, plays in the series “From the children’s album” by M. Skorik (intermediate), “Jazz suite №1”, “Jazz suite №2” by S. Bedusenko (advanced level). It is noted, that the implementation of musical cycles, collections or individual pieces by Ukrainian composers of the past and present, not only broadens the view on domestic musical culture, but helps form the national-oriented type of personality of the future teacher of music
