In the article entitled ‘Evolution of Montenegro’s statehood’ author presented issues connected with the independence of Montenegro. In the first part is described briefly history of Montenegro’s statehood from the Middle Ages to 1989. The second section is focused on the Montenegrin political events of the last decade of the twentieth century. It is divided into two parts: from the disintegration of Yugoslavia to 1997 and 1997 to founders of Serbia and Montenegro in 2003. In the third part is set out Montenegrin political existence in union with Serbia. Next author analyzed the Serbian -Montenegrin relations after the announcement of independence by Montenegro. In the last section is presented the current political and economic and social situation in Montenegro.
