Abstrakty
The aim of the article is the formal analysis of the jewellery artefacts found during the archaeological research conducted at the stronghold in Owidz, with particular emphasis on the decorations discovered during the work carried out by the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Gdańsk in 2017, 2019, 2021. The latter artefacts were also subjected to technological analyses, which yielded interesting results. To date, 19 women's decorations have been discovered on the site in Owidz, which is one of the largest jewellery collections discovered so far at the Pomeranian strongholds. This collection can be dated to the 11th–12th centuries. Among the jewellery items, earrings, silver-plated S-shaped temple rings (B III), pendants, carnelian and amber bead, as well as band-shaped rings and rings with a motif imitating two intertwined wires. In the discussed collection a variant of completely preserved earring with cylindrical beads, which has not a direct analogy to date is worth paying special attention. Also an unfinished temple ring, which is a semi-finished product from a local goldsmith's workshop seems to be very interesting.
