Russian language in motion. Reflections on the Natalya Yudina’s book “Russian Language in the XXI Century: Crisis? Evolution? Progress?”
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
The paper discusses current problems of the Russian language, especially in the first decade of the XXI century. The author examines the sociopolitical and economic reasons for the changes in the Russian language in the 90s of the previous century and the beginning of this century, as well as compares the language situations in Russia and in Poland. In addition, the postmodern paradigm of modern culture, which covers various aspects of our reality, is investigated as an important factor of the language change. Natalya Yudina assesses negatively the impact of the postmodernism on language, although the author does not agree with it; he argues that the characteristic of postmodernism cultural relativism leads to increasing functionality of the language, a natural character of the language of communication. The author critically assesses Yudina's statements that the Russian language can play a leading role in uniting Slavonic people. Such statements are regarded as fallacious.
