Abstrakty
The article aims to investigate the presence of information on the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole in tourist guides on Opole and Opole region in 1963–1989. It goes a long way in explaining whether a fl agship project of the so-called socialist mass culture was used as a propaganda tool by tourist publications. The festival was organised in Opole, the city which was claimed to be “eternally Polish.” Thanks to radio and television broadcasting it soon created an opportunity to portray the successes of power and act as a propaganda tool. The article digs seriously into the period of 1963–1989 — from the first edition of the festival to the processes of democratic transformation in Poland.
