Abstrakty
The author discusses more important discoveries of the second season of excavations on Cathedral Hill in Chełm. In the course of fieldwork new parts of a 13th c. ducal residence were uncovered. The excavations not only demonstrated two phases of its existence, but also revealed the outline ofthe entire premise. This shape is still difficult to identify, especially in the context of internal divisions. It is probable that soon after the premise had been built, it underwent significant destruction. In its place, within the same circumferential masonry walls, another premise was built, with the use of a different building technique and materials of different quality. We still do not have unequivocal responses to questions whether a tower in the circumference of the masonry walls was part of the residence or the plan of its Phase II encompassed other structural elements.
