The article characterises in general the issues of the summer tourism in the Alps. The author focuses mainly on tourism in the State of Salzburg, though references to other regions in the Alps can be also found in the text. The circle of subjects mentioned here involves issues connected with tourism promotion in Austria, adaptation ways of natural and cultural amenities for tourism purposes and methodology of providing and popularising tourist attractions. The content, on which the following reflection concentrates, is in the first place the level (or progress degree) of tourism services in the Alps in the summer season, treated as a counterbalance to “winter monoculture” related to skiing tourism.
