A comparison of the tourist information system status in Międzyzdroje in 1992 and 2006

The aim of this work was to evaluate the current tourist information status in Międzyzdroje in 2006 and an attempt to compare it in regard to its quality with the tourist information status in 1992. The research was carried out in the second half of July 2006 by members of Tourism and Recreation Section of Geographers’ Science Circle at the Adam Mickiewicz University. Presented study was a part of a complex evaluation of tourist information system at the Wolin Island which was carried out also by students of mentioned above Science Circle in 1992. The research methods relied on taking on tourist information system from two points of view: researcher and tourist. The following methods: inspection and listing of tourist information and also a diagnostic poll, with anonymous questionnaire, were used. Comparing a current tourist information status with the status in 1992, one could say that it was improved. During fourteen years localization of information boards did not get the better level, indeed. They were accidentally arranged, with a lack of boards at the beach in it. However, a status of boards was improved. They were colored and pushed forward. Unfortunately still there was a lack of information in foreign languages. Regarding a questionnaire during fourteen years a source of regional information was changed from folders and maps to friends and internet. However, in Międzyzdroje, a majority of tourists still used information boards. It was a form of transmission to use at the place of destination. According to tourist response there was a lack of natural environment information on these boards. A development of issues mentioned in this study seemed very necessary and was legitimate because it was an element of the entire recreational system exerted a significant influence on reposing effectiveness.
