This article wants to contribute to the study of the renewal of the Dutch novel 1960-1970 by analyzing the work of Daniël Robberechts out of the viewpoint of the body. I start from the finding that there are correspondences between the sexual revolution and liberation of the body and tendencies in the literary production, being problems of identity and social critique. In my analysis, I investigate the representation of the body and its innovative function in the renewing texts of Daniël Robberechts. In a first step I look at the poetical function of the body: Robberechts gives the body an authentic character by which it plays a role in his project of defictionalisation. An analysis of Aankomen in Avignon forms a second step. I demonstrate how these poetical images do innovate the literary text.
