The article presents the main stages of development of research and education in the field of chemical sciences in the period from the establishment of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin to the present. The main scientific specialties in the created research teams were characterized. A brief historical outline of the Lublin school of chromatography and the Lublin school of optical fibres was presented. Changes in the offer of fields of study and specializations as well as modernization of educational programs were described. National and international education quality certificates obtained by the Faculty of Chemistry were presented.
