The development of events in the second half of the 20th century and beginning of the 21st century was accompanied by scientific and technical progress on an unprecedented scale in the history of humanity. The dynamics of communities’ transformation both in the social and cultural aspects occurred at cruising speed. Far reaching economic changes took place particularly at the turn of the century. Scientific and technical progress, industrialisation, dynamic development of trade and new forms of communication contributed to the tightening of international cooperation. Globalisation has exerted a great influence on changes that actually took place in every walk of life. In publications concerning globalisation published so far, there has been mainly discussed the analysis of its influence upon the course of economic, technological, financial and social processes. The author of the article tried to define the relation between globalisation and security in both global and regional scales and show its positive aspects as well as threats. Moreover, apart from a retrospective approach to the subject matter, the author tried to answer the following questions: in what range globalisation influences security and how technological progress affects security in the time of globalisation.
