The article describes military application of the state-of-the-art technologies and threats connected with them that are not taken into consideration while dra­wing the military forces’ areas of interest. The author has presented the problem of dangers relating to the possibilities of using the contemporary science and tech­nology achievements by both armed forces and extreme terrorist groups. The novelty of the article is to take into consideration the latest reports from the Polish and foreign press that prove that in spite of official declarations of abandoning WMD and their use, they become more and more dangerous due to their prolifera­tion. WMD, i.e. nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, in spite of their short history, are still developed, improved and pose a constant threat for each of us. Some known cases of WMD use have been presented in the article. Although the theoretical bases of how WMD are built and how to prevent their results are known, they represents a constant threat due to the appearance of terrorist groups of glo­bal range.
