The Development of Foreign Direct Investments in Poland

Abstrakty
The article contains an outline of foreign direct investments history in Poland since the First World War in connection to political and economic conditions appearing in the periods under analysis. It also dates back to the most important legal acts regulating the influx of foreign direct investments to Poland in the last twenty years and conditions of their functioning, e.g. such as the requirements of invested minimal capital, branches of investments, freedom of profit transfer from Poland abroad, tax exemption etc. The article presents the amount, dynamics and structure of foreign direct investments realised in Poland. It is, on the one hand, an attempt to analyse the increase of Poland’s attractiveness in the recent years as a place to locate foreign capital, such as the improvement of Poland’s investment credibility, the growth of Polish economy openness, continuation of economic development and economic reforms. On the other hand, the author stresses the increasing role of foreign capital in Poland’s economic development in the process of privatisation and economy restructuring.
