Social Capabilities of a Contemporary Leader

Abstrakty
A specific character of leadership can be considered in three main aspects: influence on people, on a group which he is the leader of and tasks he wants to achieve. Leadership is a process of the leader’s influence upon other members of a specific group in a way which motives them positively to engage their abilities, knowledge and experience to achieve the goals of organisation, the analysis of the leadership concept allows to draw a conclusion that the effectiveness of leadership depends on numerous intermingled factors and abilities how to deal with people, to influence them, to balance activities oriented on people and on tasks, to apply flexibly various styles of leadership depending on a situation, to evaluate and motivate subordinates and to delegate competencies and responsibilities. Generally speaking, the art of dealing with people consists in mastering the following abilities: analysing the situation, setting the present or future goal which is possible to achieve, choosing appropriate behaviours - first of all, lingual ones - shaping other people’s behaviours, current checking own and interaction partners’ behaviour. Conscious creating one’s own image and getting the appreciation of the environment is a very important ability of a contemporary leader in any group.
