Abstrakty
The report describes a procedure for predicting the failure mode and load for a laminated curved composite beam when subjected to moment and shear loading. It shows that the necessity for detailed and expensive finite element analysis can be circumvented by the use of simple approximate methods at the preliminary design stage. This local analysis of generic flange and curved structures can be integrated into a full global analysis, or used to significantly improve 'make and test' design approaches.
