The present structure of the Central European Initiative, a list of acting CEI Working Groups and rules of international cooperation are discussed in the paper. The development of the scientific programme of the CEI Section C "Geodesy" and the evident scientific, technical and "human" achievements gained by the long-term realisation of international geodetic and geodynamic projects are stressed. Cooperation between CEI and other international scientific organisations, in particular with European Geophysical Society (EGS) and International Association of Geodesy (IAG) is pointed out. The supposed proposals of new international programmes and perspectives of a development of new forms of international cooperation within the CEI countries and CEI-EGS and CEI-IAG cooperation are given.
