Abstrakty
In the paper problems that are encountered in the attempts to develop performance-oriented intact stability criteria for ships, are discussed. Probabilistic approach to stability criteria is advocated but difficulties with its application are stressed including problems in calculation of the probability of capsizing, seaway climatic criteria, hazards identification, capsizing scenarios and acceptable level of risk.
