The role of Small and Medium Enterprises in the Polish economy is very essential and their development is a chance to adapt Polish market to the European Union's economy and stimulate the economic growth. There are the following chances for the Polish enterprises: growth of internalization, the usage of global strategies and creating the ad ventage of competitiveness. Economically, the integration with the European Union is the necessity and for SMEs it is a possibility of improvement and development of this sector. The membership in the European Union is for Poland the challenging and principal objective. Poland will probably become the member of the EU in 2004 and it is important for SMEs to increase their competitiveness until then.
