The main aim of research was qualification of variability content of chlorides in water of Druzno lake. These researches were conducted from march 1997 to June 1999, both in specific conditiones of squally accumulations as and at medium and low level of water in Bay of the Vistula. Four measuring points were marked round troughs of lake Druzno. Additionally in order to qualify the influence of the Vistula Bay on quality of water in the lake one situated one measuring point in Bay of the Vistula, two points on Gulf Elbląska and four points on river Elbląg. In order to qualify influence of the catchment one situated one measuring point per one main inflow to lake. Obtained results were systematized according to time series and places of taking water samples. Statistical analysis was based on examining relationships between dates of measurements and local-ization of measuring points. It was stated that variability of chlorides content in water of Druzno lake results from the distance from the Vistula Bay. Content of chlorides in points situated close to the Bay in whole examined period was always greater than in more remote points. On investigated area one noticed periodic occurrence of salty water inlets from the Vistula Bay. These inlets reach all measuring points selected on the lake, filling all trough lake water, what causes rapid increase of chlorides content in water. One can also observe so-called partial inlets in Druzno lake, which do not reach the whole lake; because of that boundary separating lake water mixed with salty water and typical inland water can be observed.
