Abstrakty
Introducing to modern steel structures very sophisticated methods of assessing their load carrying capacity (mainly based on the plastic limit load) results in increasing plastic areas of the constructions. The range of plastic deformation is increased by stress concentrations caused by global geometry and shape of weld toe. In case of loading different of once acting monotonic loading in these zones occur conditions of cyclic deformation, which can lead to initiation of fatigue cracks. The numbers of cycles of loading to initiation of crack can often be much smaller then N=10(4), assumed as limit of "predominantly static loading". The method suitable for considering variability of number of cycle up to 10(4) is low cycle fatigue analysis. The stress concentration factor Alfa(k) defined as the ratio of the maximum stress divided by the nominal stress, is one of the main parameter controlling low cycle fatigue. The paper presents the way of analysis Alfa(k) in axially tensioned tee joint with fillet welds by means of finite element program ADINA and influence of shape of weld toe on their value.
