EN

The most universal group of thickeners used in aqueous polymer dispersion - based paints and adhesives substances are polyurethane (PU) non-ionic associative thickeners. The characteristics of such thickeners prepared according to the originally developed process as well as their effect on rheological properties of aqueous dispersions of different composition are presented. Based on the rheological studies, the possibility of applying the results obtained for aqueous solution of PU thickeners to predicting the usability of PU thickeners for aqueous polymer dispersions have been proved. It has been observed that the thixotropic properties of dispersions developed gradually with increasing the hydrophobic segment length.
