Abstrakty
The following Goodyear's work deals with rubber based materials extrusion process optimization. Die geometry designs and volume flow throughput are the most important parameters of the extrusion process. The extrusion model applied in this work enables volume flow throughput calculation and maximization by knowing geometry and material properties at fixed or varied screw speed. Screw speed determines rhelogical conditions in screw and die section of the extruder. Rubber based materials show non-Newtonian pseudoplastic type of behavior obeying Power Law equation. By using Non-Newtonian extrusion model volume flow rate, FV, through the extrusion die was calculated for different screw speeds, material rhelogical characteristics and different die and screw geometries.
