The authors identify problems related to updating of dispersed Polish surveying and cartographic data resources. The problems consist mainly in lack of integration and cooperation between components of these resources on different levels of administration structure. One of possible solutions is to use Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) for designing and creating IT systems responsible for updating and management of databases. Building and making available dedicated services for maintenance/ updating of databases is the best and the most proper solution, but it requires much effort to identify and describe business processes to be integrated. It also requires modification of IT systems performing the updating, which originate from different suppliers. The other option is to use INSPIRE services to be available within the framework of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure being created.
