Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
The aim of the paper is to make the issue of forest digital maps in six EU countries familiar, namely in Belgium, France, United Kingdom, Norway, Spain and Portugal. To this end, the author took advantage of internet pages of institutions responsible for developing these maps and of information from persons involved in these problems in individual countries. The ways of creating these maps were mentioned, sources of information of geometric and descriptive databases were pointed and thematic layers accessible through the GIS were named. Gathered information led to conclusion that forest information in UE is not homogeneous mainly due to ownership.s structure of forests. The issue of forest digital maps, which are a part of land use maps and the issue of forest digital maps, which are strictly made for foresters. use, as a result of inventory and management actions, were also mentioned. It is clear that there are significant differences between these two types of maps in degree of detail and accessibility. It is noted, that it is quite common to gather information needed to create forest digital maps, using aerial photographs and all the advantages of GIS. In the summary, the features, which differ forest digital maps in individual countries were discussed. Also conformity of these maps was discussed as a base for creating a uniform forest information exchange system.
