Abstrakty
The burning of high-sulfur coal causes ecological problems. Therefore the power stations using such coals are equipped with the installations for removal of SO2 from effluent gases. But owing to the expense of these installations the power stations are forced to use low-sulfur coal. The proposed process of coal desulfurization is based on the treating of sulfur-rich coal by air/steam mixture. The desulfurization procedure was performed in the fluidized bed reactor in the temperature range of 673-723 K. Under optimal conditions, using desulfurization by this method for coals with the total sulfur content of 7.85, 2.17, and 3.79 wt.%, their total sulfur content was reduced to 1.88, 1.08, and 1.40 wt.% and gases (0.2-1.0 m3/kg coal) contained 4.24, 4.03, 2.18 vol.% accordingly.
