Abstrakty
The efficiency of the ozonation process is affected by the following major factors: gas-liquid dispersion (interfacial gas-liquid surface) and the contact time, as well as some other parameters influencing the mass transfer ratę and the kinetics of the chemical reactions. This is why the intensity of mixing in the dissolution system becomes a key issue. Mixing intensity depends on the volumetric liąuid flow ratę, the volumetric gas flow ratę and the reactor geometry. The primary objective of the study reported in the paper was to analyze the problem of how the said parameters influence the hydraulic behaviour of the contactor. The study showed strong influence of the investigated parameters not only on the hydrodynamics of the contactor, but also on the efficiency of the ozone transfer and the effectiveness of the oxidation/disinfection processes. The pług flow reactor seems to be a prereąuisite of an effective ozone use for microorganisms inactivation.
