Kolbermoor, choć powstało zaledwie 150 lat temu, jest dziś drugą co do wielkości miejscowością w powiecie Rosenheim. Okolice Kolbermooru obfitowały w torf. Eksploatacja tego bogactwa spowodowała szybki rozwój miasta. Torf początkowo eksportowano, a później służył jako materiał opałowy w produkcji przędzy, a z niej tkanin bawełnianych, które sprzedawano daleko poza granice miasta i kraju. Fabryka przez ponad 100 lat decydowała o rozwoju Kolbermooru i stanowiła właściwie jego serce. Po 10 latach bezczynności przędzalnia tętni na nowo życiem, mimo że nie produkuje się tu już tkanin.

Kolbermoor (das Moor - Germ, marsh) although founded only 150 years ago, today the town is the biggest in the district of Rosenheim. The Kolbermoor area abounded in peat. With the exploitation of peat deposits, the town started to develop rapidly, initially by means of peat exportation. Afterwards, it was used as fuel in the production of cotton exported far from Kolbermoor. For over 100 years the factory favoured the town's growth and was its actual heart. At present, after 10 years of inactivity, the spinning mill is vibrant with new life, though it has ceased to produce cotton.
