Geothermal energy is a reliable eneergy source and found in most parts of the world.It isharnessed by conventional technology.Most problems which have come up so far have been solved.It has been used for large scale district heating schemes for over 50 years and produce electricity on the scale of hunndreds of MWe for over 30 years.Properly implemented geothermal energy is sustainable and begin to the environment.In comparison with most other energy sources,geothermal energy is relatively clean although it is not always free from environmental impact.The most serious environmental effects that may be caused by geothermal utilization are: surface disturbances.land subsidence due to fluid withdrawal from the recevoir,thermal effects and emission of chemicals.
