Abstrakty
Samples of 9Cr-1Mo steel in an advanced stage of metal dusting after 10 years' service in CCR platforming unit have been under studies to consider a decision about dosage of a sulphur compound to the feed to stop degradation process of the steel. Effects of long-term exposure of the samples in a mixture of H2-H2S at 600°C have been examined. The examinations revealed that the exposure results in some unfavourable processes: diffusion of sulphur into the subsurface layer of the steel, formation of sulphide scale and diffusion of carbon in front of sulphur inside the steel.
