"The attraction of constructing a new notion of beauty is practically the only thing that gives meaning to our profession" - so say the Spanish architects Abbalos and Herreros, trying to give the contemporary definition of beauty in architecture. What is that modern beauty and what is the way to get to it ? The way has been prepared by XX. century philosophers (R. Ingarden, W.Tatarkiewicz, W. Stróżewski), who, beyond classifying the values present in the phenomenon of the beauty as artistic and esthetic, stressed in their works the role of super-esthetical values, in the framework of which the essential values of the existence can be found. The new notion of beauty can be therefore build on the basis of understanding what is the essence if the super-esthetical values and this leads in the consequence to the problems of authenticity within beauty as well as within the architectural transmitting as a whole. Authenticity leads to the issues of architectural identity, extrapolated for the theory of identity formulated by psychological and sociological sciences, with the expression of identity and with the role of emotions, interpreted in the phenomenological way. The way to beauty in the contemporary architecture is not connected with any specific style, technology or ideology but derives from authenticity of the identity and of the architectural message.
