This paper specifies the kinds of disintegrations of a conductor subjected to current impulses of high density. It was proved that in practical applications the conductors undergo most often so-called striation desintegrations. A 3-stage mechanism of the striations is suggested. Very important is the deformation stage of the conductor. A physical and mathematical model of the phenomena occurning at this stage are presented including the results of numerical calculations. A good agreement of the calculations with the experimental results was obtained.
